One of my favorite things about trends is how designers start them, then smaller designers/brands mimic them at more affordable main stream prices. Another thing about trends though is how they don’t always stick around, so I am very budget conscious when I shop for trendy pieces. One trend that I think will stick around for a while though is the scarf print trend and chain print. These are trends inspired by the Hermes scarf, which is a classic and elegant brand. My girlfriend Miki styled a gorgeous scarf print outfit here, and when I saw this gorgeous Tibi skirt on Rent the Runway, I knew it would be the perfect statement piece to style for this trend.
This new season is trending earthy tones and we are seeing a minimalist palette for autumn/winter, so the scarf print trend will be a gorgeous dose of color for those who like to make a statement. Plus it’s wonderful news that street style brands such as Zara, Asos and Topshop are all getting in on this trend.
Trying to decide how to wear it? Silky tops will make a great choice paired with your favorite denim, while a flowy midi dress, or skirt becomes a statement piece in variety of prints. However, you can style the trend as it was first intended; with an elegant scarf. For an Audrey Hepburn flair, I suggest wearing it tied as a neckerchief layered over a mock turtle neck, or tied to your favorite bag for extra flair.
