Last week I posted about the first two days of NYFW, so today I wanted to share the rest of my trip with you! There was so much to talk about that I didn’t want to overwhelm everyone in one post!
NYFW DAY 3
Saturday morning I decided not to get up too early, which means that I missed going backstage with Maybelline to see them glam up all the models for the Self Portrait show, but c’est la vie! I really would rather attend the actual show, so perhaps another year. I ended up meeting up with my girlfriend Diane and wandering around the city a bit! We headed over to the Rent the Runway flagship store to see if there was anything that sparked our interest. While we were walking around we passed Banana Republic setting up for the launch of Olivia Palermo’s fall collection. I caught a peak at her which was pretty cool!! I couldn’t get a decent photo though because she was walking around too much.
We also made sure to hit up the flat iron district and it was harder than I thought to get a decent shot in front of the building at mid day. Thank you Miki for taking a million photos for me haha.
The show that I attended this day was Runa Ray, and even though I only ended up attending 2 shows during my trip (hands over eyes, sorry guys my feet hurt really bad), I would have to say this was hands down my favorite. Her eye for flattering shapes, delicate fabrics, and whimsical hand painted designs were phenominal!! PLUS, I managed to get a front row seat to this one because whomever was supposed to sit next to my new blogger friend Adrina Rose didn’t show up, and she told me to sit next to her and not say a thing!! What are good friends for right??
After the show I headed over to Nolita near Little Italy to get dim sum with my boyfriend and his sister. The place was called Nom Wah Nolita and it was a tiny place where you order from a tablet and pick up your food from the counter when it’s ready. The food was so delicious that I ordered more than I could actually eat!! Then we hit Pietro Nolita (a famous pink restaurant) at the perfect time to get some fun pictures in. Pink is my favorite color, so I couldn’t pass that up!!

We ran back to my friend Diane’s hotel (thank god for friends who stayed in the city) and I changed clothes to go meet with a Brooklyn jewelry designer Esther Dany of V & V Jewels, for drinks at the Empire Hotel. This was another item on my bucket list due to my healthy obsession with Gossip Girl and I proceeded to try out their old fashioned of course. I finally wore out my gorgeous one of a kind Catherine Maladrino dress that I purchased for…wait for it…only $30 from a sample sale in NY during my last trip!! I decided to test out a color combo that I hadn’t done before which was teal and blush. I now think it’s my favorite combo. I had forgotten my earrings that I was going to wear with this outfit, but luckily I found some great earrings in a pinch at Nordstrom Rack, Givenchy no less, for under $60!!

After that, the lovely Esther gave myself and Miki a ride over to Chelsea for the Reward Style Party! This was one of the highlights of my trip because I was able to meet so many awesome bloggers that I have looked up to via Instagram. The one woman I had been dying to meet and I even got to chat with for a moment and get a picture with was Amanda Miller of The Miller Affect!! I had been following her blog since before I began blogging and even used her awesome tips for how to attend Fashion Week! I also met Haute Hijab, Chic over 50, and Blogger Not Billionaire. After getting my fill of watching everyone walk past in their fabulous outfits, absorbing all the chic decor, MEETING MY REP WOO HOO, and drinking delicious surprises from the incredible bartender, I headed back to Brooklyn to end the night with cocktails at Weather Up.
NYFW DAY 4
Day four was a bit brutal! I was supposed to attend two shows this morning that I’m very sad I didn’t make it to, but sometimes your health has to come first. I am not used to walking as much as I did in NY and pairing that with uncomfortable shoes my feet were seriously killing me. So much so in fact, that I could barely walk to the bathroom when I got out of bed. That’s how I knew I had to take the morning off and get myself all taken care of to be my best possible self at the brunch I was co-hosting that morning.
Red Top | Pants | Heels (Dupe) | Earrings | DIY Clutch (Similar)
I dressed in my fabulously bold red Saylor top (which by the way bright red is one of the hot Fall 2017 colors) and headed off to Cantina Rooftop to drink margaritas sangria and eat my fill of gauc and ceviche!! The ambience was great, the weather perfect, and the company was the best. Less than half of the ladies who rsvped ended up actually coming, but you know what I am counting my many blessings and I was excited to focus on the women who did attend!! Funny story about the pants I’m wearing. I was supposed to actually wear the white pants pictured above. However they were too long on me and got horribly filthy walking around the city the day before, so I had to find a different pair of pants quickly. Do you know how hard it is to find white pants after labor day?? Ugh Luckily Topshop came in for the win!!
Guess who I got a peek at while I was meandering around the city?? The one and only Victoria Beckham, which was a total fluke that she happened to be leaving a restaurant and I was curious as to why there was a huge crowd where I was walking. A lovely paparazzi shared some photos with me, quite a day!
This evening, we were supposed to return home, but since Hurricane Irma was hitting Florida our flight was canceled and we had to call every airline trying to get another flight out as soon as possible. We ended up booking a flight for Tuesday with the airline I can’t stand the most, Spirit Airlines.
NYFW THE TWIST
Soooo we were supposed to be home!! We ended up staying two days longer than we had planned in New York and I would have thought that I would attend another show, or two, get some work done, take more photos ect. However, we decided to just enjoy ourselves! We went to see the new IT movie at a really cool theater called The Alamo Drafthouse, where you can order food including boozy milk shakes. We tried out a delicious hot dog place in the East Village called Crif Dogs, which totally topped Papaya King and became my fave after that. Plus, we got frozen yogurt with sprinkles at Big Gay Ice Cream. While we in the East Village we wandered into an old phone booth which happened to be the entrance for a secret Speak Easy and we ended up spending the rest of our evening there drinking custom craft cocktails. If you want the location of the Speak Easy, let me know in the comments below!
I had a fabulous first time experiencing NYFW. It was not exactly what I had expected and planned for, but sometimes you can’t do everything you think you can and you just have to go with the flow! There were a few things I didn’t get to do, but New York will still be there and I now have things to look forward to when I go back!
What’s your favorite thing about New York City? Did you attend NYFW this year, if so I would love to hear what you thought!!
