The color yellow has become increasingly popular this season. Yellow is definitely a summer color, since most people would associate it with the sun and with more and more women wanting to wear something to show off that bronzed skin, they are flocking to the color yellow. However, yellow is a bold color that not everyone feels they can pull off, so myself and my Style Collective sister Stephanie decided to team up and show you how you can style a yellow dress for summer!
My first tip would be to find the shade of yellow that flatters your skin tone. Women with lighter skin tend to look better in pastel yellow, or mustard, where women with tan, or dark skin tend to look great in pretty much any shade. I chose a light colored yellow sun dress because I only have a light tan right now.
My second tip is to offset the yellow dress with primary colored accents. There are only three primary colors and yellow is already one of them, so I would choose either red, or blue accessories to go with your dress. I chose red to go with mine because I already owned some great pieces in that shade! Plus the purse that I was sent by Romwe had red accents on it.

Stephanie’s tip is to pair your yellow dress with neutrals. See how she chose a nude purse and heels to pair with her dress? This allows the yellow dress to be the focal point and the neutral accents don’t clash with the yellow. You could also try wearing a yellow dress with black, or white accents, since those are also neutrals. Why gravitate to a little black dress when you are ready for a night out on the town. This little yellow dress is sure to make you stand out of the crowd! Check out her full post on Lost in Chic.
There are so many cute patterned dresses with yellow in them right now as well, in case you can’t commit to wearing a full yellow dress. Check out these cute pineapple, banana, and lemon print dresses which are all less than $20. If you worry that yellow isn’t a color that you would wear often, then I also suggest not having your yellow dress be a splurge option. Choose a dress from inexpensive stores such as Romwe, SheIn, and Forever 21.
