My stay was gifted by Wyndham Orlando International Drive, but all opinions are my own.
One thing I really love to do in Orlando is get out of my comfort zone. Sometimes many of us are guilty of staying in our own little bubble, not venturing too far from our homes, and visiting the same places time and time again. Every so often though, it’s really nice to be a tourist in our own towns. I don’t get over to the I-Drive & Theme Park area of Orlando too often, so I really enjoy it when I do. I also prefer to stay somewhere when I am over there so I can visit a few places and make a whole weekend of it. Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive, invited me to stay there for the weekend and it was the perfect location to be close to all the I-Drive attractions and the parks, so I said YES PLEASE! After work on Friday my family and I headed off to check in and go to dinner at Bosphorus Dr. Phillips near by.
The front desk was very nice welcoming us and since we had the kids with us they put us in two connecting rooms which gave us some privacy from the kids, but also the comfort of knowing they are attached to our room like a suite. Oh, they also have a really neat family suite at the hotel which has bunk beds in a little separate area for the kids. The rooms are all very big, come with a mini fridge, and a balcony. Ours had a cute view of a pond and nature walk. After dinner we decided to let the kids have a night swim since the pool doesn’t close till 11 pm, and the hubby and I relaxed and had some drinks by the pool.
In the morning we woke up and called Room Service to order some breakfast. I will say that some things are a bit over priced, but that’s normally how it goes with room service. I made sure some OJ was on the menu of things ordered, so that I could have my morning mimosa by the pool. Yes this girl is OCD…I brought my own cute plastic wine glass and a bottle of La Marca and we headed down to the pool to catch some rays.
My husband and I weren’t very impressed by the pool area, lack of towels, how the photos online don’t portray the actual image in person, or the cleanliness. However, the kids really enjoyed themselves and that’s what counts. I did talk with the manager who is going to speak with the outside company who takes care of the pool and make sure a better job is done.
After the pool we decided to head to Topgolf for lunch and to skip the rain that was headed our way. Having two boys and a husband that golf, it was paradise for them. For myself, I really enjoy watching them while having food and drinks to occupy me haha. The food is soooo good at Topgolf and I really can’t complain about any cocktail I’ve had either!
In the evening we headed off to dinner at Bartaco, which is in Dr. Phillips about 5 minutes from I-Drive. This is a really yummy taco restaurant which has an extensive menu of gourmet tacos and craft cocktails. Some of my faves are the Sangria & the Paloma. As for tacos I really love the duck and pork belly. They also have some really yummy street corn and gazpacho. After dinner it was time to head to the Icon Orlando 360 and see one of the best views of Orlando. My favorite time to ride the Icon Orlando is at sunset. It’s so pretty to see the lights and colors change over the city.
On Sunday we decided to make use of our Universal passes and hit the parks for a few hours while we were over that way. Universal & Islands of Adventure are just a short shuttle ride away from the hotel, which is free when you stay at the Wyndham Orlando International Drive. This is definitely one convenience if you are not a pass holder with free parking.
All in all I will say that the staff was very warm, friendly, and on top of any requests. However, whoever is in charge of the pool area needs to step up their game and so does the restaurant staff. It’s a great hotel for the location, especially for tourists that want to stay somewhere on a budget and spend their time mostly at the parks and attractions. Until the pool and restaurant get a bit better, I wouldn’t say it’s really a staycation veg by the pool kind of hotel. At less than $100 a night though, it really can’t be beat.

You looked amazing in all of your pictures! I’ve stayed there for a conference before and totally agree with your overall thoughts. For the price it was great but the day we went to the pool and wanted a few snacks it wasn’t the greatest overall experience. BUT still had a great time nonetheless. – Stephanie |www.theborrowedbabes.com
