Are you looking for some fun family ideas since we are staying at home now a days? Well I have a great one for you! Ford challenged us to create our own drive in movie night at the house last weekend, and it was so much fun. It’s actually not expensive to get a projector and screen off Amazon. Once you have those two supplies; you are set up for a summer of family fun.
I couldn’t exactly drive the cars around to the back of the house to have an actual drive in movie. However, I made the cutest cardboard box cars for the kids to sit in. (You can find the full tutorial HERE.) We even watched the movie Grease, which not only had a lot of cool vintage cars in it, but also has its own drive in movie theater.
I set up the bar cart for us adults with a pitcher of Titos Mojitos. If you want the recipe for a Pineapple Coconut MoTito, then leave me a comment below! For the kids (and adults), I set up a confessions stand with candy, popcorn, and soda. To make it easy for the kids to gather up their treats, I used organizer trays and mini popcorn buckets.
We had to wait until it got dark to start the movie, but the kids had fun picking out all their snacks. Then they got cozy in their cars that had a cushion inside and a spot to put their movie tray. The cars held up really well too and my nieces took them home to use in their playroom for movie nights at home.
Now I’m challenging you to create your own #FordMovieNight at home! Let me know if you try it, or have already created your own outdoor movie night at home!
Xoxo, Nikki
