A few days ago I came home from my trip to New Orleans, this trip was a last minute one, since our flight to the Virgin Islands was canceled. Anything last minute is really hard for me because I am a big planner and try to research everything before I go somewhere. Therefore, when we arrived, I was feeling a bit nervous and completely at a loss of what to do first. I knew we wanted to go to the French Quarter, so we decided to wing it, get out a map, and walk there.
While we were sitting in the Cathedral in the French Quarter hungry, I found a restaurant on Yelp with great reviews. No one was really listening and I don’t think anyone knew what they were in the mood for so we just walked in the direction towards where I said the place was. The hilarious part is that they all pointed out the restaurant that I chose before any of us knew it was Napoleon House. But, I looked down when we walked through the doorway, saw Napoleon House and definitely gave an I told you so.
The food was divine at Napoleon House! We ate there twice! The first day I had an Avocado Stuffed with Shrimp Salad and the second time I had Roast Beef and Gouda Sandwich on Crusty Bread with a delicious Potato Salad on the side. Our fabulous bartender Mario made not only a delicious Italian Cream Soda (mine was peach flavored), but also a really refreshing cocktail with Pimms and lemonade. Then the General Manager, Chris, gave us a complete tour of the building. The Napoleon House happens to be one of the few landmarks in New Orleans and a favorite of tourists and locals alike. Most people aren’t allowed to go out on the balcony and it made me a bit nervous, but since he let us, I ventured out!
This is the dress I wore on our second trip back to Napoleon House. I thought that this beautiful old building was the perfect backdrop for my vintage looking floral dress! Can you believe that this dress is less than $20 from Romwe!

FINANCIAL TIP
Here a few trips for traveling on a budget that I wanted to share with you! Our trip was very last minute and we had already shelled out a few thousand dollars for our original trip. Therefore, New Orleans had to be kept low cost.
- DO NOT FLY SPIRIT AIR TO SAVE MONEY! Haha, ok no that’s not really my first tip, but really don’t fly with them. They canceled our flight and we had to dispute the charges with our bank, they were awful. My suggestion is not to fly with a cheaper airline to save money and to actually book your flight directly through the airline. My Mom used to work for a few airlines and my Step Dad is a freight pilot, they say fly Delta, of Jet Blue and pinch pennies elsewhere.
- Use rewards programs like Marriot Rewards, or Hilton Honors to book your hotel. You can get the BEST rates that way, even better than military discounts, or AAA. Many times they have what they call “off site” hotels that are still owned by them. We stayed at an Embassy Suites which had two rooms and since it was two couples we were able to split it.
- Look up restaurants on google and yelp to check the reviews, menu, and pricing. We ate at restaurants that were at a max of “$$”, which is mid range. Food and alcohol can eat into a huge portion of your budget, so also try to get a hotel that includes a free breakfast.
- Walk, walk, and walk some more. Transportation can really add up and if you rent a car you have to add in gas and parking. We used Uber some and even rode a trolley once while in New Orleans, but mostly we walked, so pack a pair of walking shoes whenever you travel.

Oh girl… I fully intended on saying how beautiful you look (YOU ARE!) but when I saw “don’t fly Sprint” lmao I laughed because THIS. We flew Sprint for the first and last time to and from Vegas… 5 hours. OMG. NO. NO NO NO NO. I can’t even take the time to tell you how that was a bad idea. The way out was okay… major delay but still… the way back was another story. Nothing short of a nightmare. We landed safely, so it wasn’t SO bad… but never again.

I would definitely say that it ran true to size. However, I will be adding a snap at the top of the dress since it’s a wrap dress because I felt like my bra would sneak out sometimes haha.
